Equilibria CBD Q&A

I get asked all the time about my CBD and why I take it, how much I take, etc. So I figured I would do a question and answer blog post so anytime you want to refer back to it, you can. :) I asked these questions last week on my Instagram page so they are coming directly from you guys!

CODE "KRISTINCOFFEY" WILL GIVE YOU 15% OFF YOUR FIRST ORDER!

What do you take it for? I've been taking EQ CBD since January 2020. My anxiety got really bad around that time, and I was introduced to it. I would take a soft gel every morning and a full dropper midday and another at night to ease the anxiety. It helped tremendously. I did that for a few months! In October 2020, I got off of birth control because I suspected that my anxiety was caused by it and sure enough 2-3 months after getting off BC, I have been almost "anxious-free". I say almost, because I definitely still get a little bit of anxiety, but not nearly as bad as when I was on it. I felt like a weight had been lifted. Anyways, I do have a full blog post sharing that experience if you want to go read it. I still take my CBD every night before bed, so ensure I have an amazing night of sleep. :)

Do you use the flavored or regular drops? I prefer the mint, but have taken both.

Where do you store it? I store mine in my nightstand. I always make sure mine stays room temp.

Does it make you feel off or paranoid? Not at all! Makes me feel relaxed and honestly, you don't even feel different. You just feel like a weight has been lifted off if that makes sense.

Does it make you feel high? Absolutely not.

How often do you take it? I take my daily drops every night before bed. :)

Does it truly help with anxiety? For many members, CBD is a fantastic stress-management tool. CBD helps to regulate your Endocannabinoid System - this is the system in the body that regulates homeostasis. This means that in moments of stress, our ECS activates to keep us as calm and balanced as possible. CBD supports the ECS by mimicking a molecule that the ECS releases to help control our FAAH levels (like cortisol and adrenaline). So, think of CBD as a tool to support your entire body's natural ability to function, rather than a tool to treat a single, specific symptom.

Where should I start if I'm new to CBD? We recommend starting low and slow! Many members start with both our Daily Drops and Daily Softgels to gugage how their body responds to CBD, and then they'll personalize their subscription from there. Our members take on average about 20mg/day, which is either 1 full dropper (10mg/1mL) + a 10mg softgel, or they'll take 2 full droppers (20mg/2mL) or a couple softgels (10mg each/20mg total). If you're nervous to start with an ingestible product, our Relief Balm is a fantastic topical option meant to help spot-treat discomfort. While it's not the tool you'd need for systemic changes, it's great for sore muscles and inflammation.

Can my husband take them as well or is it just formulated for women? Of course he can give Equilibria CBD a try! While we are focused on women's health, our product is not inherently formulated for the female pH. In the future, we will be coming out with products specifically formulated for women, but at the moment all of our products are completely safe for all genders and sexes! Around 10% of our members are men.

Does CBD interact with other medications? We work with many members who safely use CBD in tandem with other medications, and although it's not perfect, a good general rule to follow is: if your medication says stay away from grapefruit, you should proceed with caution when starting a CBD routine.

The Dosage Support team is made up of cannabis educators, not physicians; so we will be unable to advise on how to best use your medications in tandem with CBD. However, we do work with a team of on-staff pharmacists that all of our members have a chance to book a call with following their Dosage Appointment if interested!

While our drug interaction checker is a great resource, it is not a replacement for seeking medical advice. Whether you work with our pharmacy team or not, we highly encourage you to reach out to your doctor to discuss the best way to use CBD in tandem with your medications given your long-term care plan. Again, after you have your Dosage Appointment, you'll have the opportunity to schedule a call with our pharmacy team as well!

How long before bed should I take the drops to help with sleep? The Daily Drops tend to activate within the first 10-30 minutes and then last around 4-6 hours. Most of our members take their Daily Drops about 30 minutes before bed.

Does the balm help with arthritis? CBD is inherently anti-inflammatory. The Relief Balm can be incredibly helpful for members with autoimmune diseases that result in inflammation. Because this is a more severe case of inflammation, we recommend using the RB regularly, consistently. You may find even more systemic results by also taking an ingestible product, like the Daily Drops or Daily Softgels.

Any side effects? Drowsiness, dry mouth, and diarrhea are the most common side effects reported; usually when taken in very large doses. Diarrhea can sometimes be caused by the fact that you're swallowing a new oil, rather than the CBD itself. These symptoms often fade away with time or can be corrected after an adjustment to your routine.

Should I take it with food?

CBD is fat-soluble and absorbs better in the body when taken alongside a healthy fat, like avocado, nuts, cheese, coconut oil, etc. It's particularly important to take the Daily Softgels with a healthy fat to help them absorb better in the digestive system.

Does it show up on a drug test?

Everyone's body chemistry is different, so drug testing is kind of a grey area; we don’t know for sure how your body will metabolize our products. Think of it like consuming alcohol. If a beer is 5% ABV/Alcohol By Volume (like how our products contain 0.3% THC or less), the amount you consume determines your BAC/Blood Alcohol Level (or in this case, THC level in bloodstream). So the more you ingest at a time, the more likely it will be detected on a test. While it is uncommon for members to test positive given the very low THC content in our products, it is not impossible. If you’re worried, I’d recommend grabbing an over-the-counter THC test at your local pharmacy to find out for sure. We also recommend asking for a blood test rather than a urine test if you have the opportunity, as blood tests tend to be more accurate than urine tests. All of our products are federally legal, so you can also supply your employer with our Lab Results if they have further questions.
